NY judge: ICE agents arresting migrants at state courthouses

One of New York’s top judges says U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are targeting migrants for deportation at state courthouses.
The Times Union reports that Chief Administrative Judge Joseph Zayas said he does not know the exact number of arrests, but he says this is the first time something like this has happened in the court system.
A 2020 law prohibits federal agents from arresting an immigrant if they are inside a state courthouse or if they are on their way to or from a court appearance.
Another state law says federal agents are not allowed to make those arrests in courtrooms.
Zayas said ICE has instead been taking people into custody in hallways or just outside the building.
