One of Vermont murder victims was on Pawlet town board

One of the three people killed early Sunday morning in Vermont was a member of the Pawlet Town Select Board.

Board Chairman Mike Beecher said the victim, Brian Crossman Sr., 46, was a friend and a neighbor and a hardworking community member. He said Crossman had just stepped up to join the board this year.

He adds that the tragedy that struck him and his family also has hit the community, and they are shaken and grieving.

Vermont State Police identified the other victims as Crossman’s wife Erica (Pawlusiak) Crossman, 41, and her son, 13-year-old Colin Taft.

People tell NewsChannel 13 that no one is in custody. The person who was detained initially has been released.
