Today marks one year since a massive fire tore through the old Doane Stuart School in Albany, destroying the historic building.

On March 23, 2023, massive flames and billowing smoke from the 19th century building on Southern Boulevard in Albany could be seen from miles away.

Doane Stuart occupied the property from 1975 until June 2009, when it moved to a campus in Rensselaer.

The structure had been vacant since.

It was demolished after the fire.
