ONLY ON 13: New reward as search for missing East Greenbush man yields no clues

Police and family offering reward for info on missing man

An urgent plea from a family in East Greenbush Police in a man's disappearance.

State Police joined East Greenbush Police in a search Wednesday for an East Greenbush man who has been missing for two months.

Joseph Viola, who family call Joe, was last seen April 25.

The search was concentrated on Rhode Island Avenue near Viola’s home. That is the same area where investigators have been seeking video surveillance footage.

East Greenbush Police said Wednesday they do not suspect foul play, but they have no leads as to Viola’s whereabouts.

Police used cadaver dogs and drones to scan the neighborhood where Viola lives and was last seen.

“Both of those searches came up negative today, so we’re kind of at a stalemate,” said East Greenbush Detective Sgt. Michael Guadagnino. “We’ve exhausted all investigative leads.”

The family asked to put out a missing person poster with a reward, according to Guadagnino. They hope that it will bring new information. Police did not announce the monetary amount of the reward for fear that someone with bad intentions would take advantage and interfere in the case.

“I really appreciate if you reach out to the East Greenbush Police with any information,” said Ralph Viola, his father.

Viola said his son lived alone, but spent time regularly with his family and worked with his father at his local business.

Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call East Greenbush Police at 518-479-2525.
