An overflowing tank at the Pittsfield Wastewater Treatment Plant sent hundreds of gallons of sludge into the Housatonic River.
NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Berkshire Eagle report 1,200 gallons of wastewater left the facility, with 500 gallons likely making it into the river.
The city’s Commissioner of Public Services and Utilities says there is no risk to the water supply, but aquatic life may be affected over the next 48 hours.
