Pedestrian struck by car in Fonda

A pedestrian was severely hurt after being struck by a car in Fonda.

The crash happened at the intersection of State Route 5 and School Street at around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, State Police said.

The pedestrian was taken to Albany Medical Center and is in critical condition.

The road was closed for about five hours during the investigation.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The driver is cooperating with police, they said.
