A Pittsfield man is facing a murder charge after he stabbed someone to death, police said.

Josiah Helmer, 27, is accused of killing Clarence Jones in September. Jones was stabbed in the leg and later died, police said.

Helmer’s defense attorney is looking to identify the seven witnesses police have yet to name.

Helmer is being held without bail while he awaits trial.
