Pittsfield seeks reimbursement for security after VP’s pricey visit

It cost about $50,300 in Pittsfield when Vice President Kamala Harris visited two weeks ago. Now the city is wondering if they’ll be reimbursed.
The breakdown includes $28,000 for the Pittsfield Police Department, nearly $5,800 for the fire department and $16,500 for the city Department of Public Services.
Pittsfield Police Chief Thomas Dawley said he spent about half his budget for overtime for special events. However, he also said the event was a huge success for his department.
Meanwhile, Pittsfield’s Mayor Peter Marchetti has reached out to the Harris campaign seeking reimbursement. However, there’s no word yet on if it will come through.
