Early morning Pittsfield structure fire quickly extinguished
Pittsfield Fire Department Deputy Chief Daniel Garner says that the department responded to a 2-family structure fire early Sunday morning.
He said that call was made by a good Samaritan who saw smoke coming from the roof line of the building located at 1223 North Street in Pittsfield. We are told the Samaritan then knocked on the doors and alerted the building residents of the fire.
Garner says that the fire was contained to one room on the second floor and was quickly extinguished.
No injuries have been reported and no occupants have been displaced.
We are told the cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental careless disposal of smoking materials.
