Police: Firearms found during search warrant at residence in Albany

Albany Police say they arrested two people for weapon possession following a search warrant that was executed at a residence on Friday.

Police say they executed the search warrant around 1:15 p.m. on the 600 block of South Pearl Street.

The warrant was in reference to a stolen dog incident that happened on April 9, officials say.

Authorities say during the search, they located the stolen Yorkshire terrier dog inside the residence. Two loaded firearms were also located during the search.

Two people were located inside and taken into custody at the time of the search warrant, said officials.

Brenda McClendon, 42, and Javier Clark, 24, were arrested and charged with the theft of the dog, and the weapon possession.

Albany Police say McClendon was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree grand larceny. She was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Saturday and taken to Albany County Jail.

Clark was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree grand larceny. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court, taken to Albany County Jail, with the bail set at $10,000.

Police say Fendi, the Yorkshire terrier, has since been reunited with its owner.
