Police: Man bit trooper after arrest on DWI charge

A Connecticut man is accused of driving while intoxicated and then biting a trooper. 

State Police said Alexander Rodriguez 39, crashed his car off the roadway of I-87 in Bethlehem on Jan. 1. Rodriguez was drunk and there was a child in the vehicle, according to police.

Rodriguez was being transported to be arraigned on DWI charges around 4:15 p.m., when police said he bit the trooper.

Rodriguez was charged with second-degree assault, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, endangering the welfare of a child and traffic violations.

He was arraigned in Colonie Town Court and sent to Albany County Jail in lieu of bail set at $15,000 cash, $20,000 bond or $50,000 partially secured bond.
