Police: Schenectady man charged with vehicular assault
Albany Police say they arrested 29-year-old Trevaughn Haggray from Schenectady for a vehicular assault that happened on Friday morning.
The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. at the Westgate Plaza on 911 Central Avenue.
Officers received reports of an individual hit by a vehicle. Upon arrival, they located a 29-year-old female with significant injury to her leg.
Through investigation, police determined Haggray intentionally struck the victim while she was walking in the area.
Police tell us that Haggray swerved his vehicle towards a second person who was walking with the victim, but she was able to jump out of the way before being struck by the vehicle.
The victim was treated on scene and brought to Albany Medical Center where she is in stable condition and being treated for a broken leg and internal injuries.
Police say the incident was a result of an ongoing domestic dispute.
Police took Haggray into custody and was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree attempted assault.
He was arraigned Friday afternoon in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
