Police training in nuclear-training exercise in Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady counties, will not pose any risk to residents

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a statement regarding a large-scale nuclear training exercise taking place starting Sunday, January 26, through Friday, January 31.
The FBI says the training exercise will take place in the vicinity of Schenectady and surrounding counties of Albany, Saratoga, and Schenectady.
This exercise will not pose any risk to residents within the area, and the public does not need to be alarmed by any training-related activity, which will include the presence of military personnel, people in protective equipment, and military aircraft.
They say this is part of a series of regularly-scheduled US government biannual exercises.
The FBI adds that the general areas in which the training will take place include areas around Albany International Airport, to Stratton Air National Guard Base, to northern Saratoga County.
The purpose of the training is to provide an opportunity for police participating to practice and enhance operational readiness in case of a need to respond to a nuclear incident in the US or overseas.
The FBI says the training activities are not open to the public or media due to the sensitive nature of the capabilities being implemented during the exercise.
