Protesters at state Capitol in Albany denounce Trump’s policies
Protesters against President Donald Trump and his policies braved frigid temperatures nationwide, and in Albany, to demonstrate at rallies on this holiday.
It was part of a “50 States, 50 Protests” initiative.
The organization Power to the People of Upstate New York led this protest.
It is time to “resist fascism,” they said.
“This goes beyond just reform in the federal government,” said Mike McGyver, one of the organizers. “We need reform from a grassroots level all the way from city and township level up to the state, up to the federal government. Because it’s grown without any sort of recourse for too long, and we need to reassert that the people are the ones in charge, that the government works for us.”
The latest protests came less than two weeks after a similar nationwide event earlier this month drew people in dozens of cities. Both protests denounced Trump and adviser Elon Musk.
Musk is the leader of Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency, an outside-government organization designed to slash federal spending.
