FIRST ON 13: Record number of prospective jurors summoned for driveway shooting trial
A group of 500 people have been summoned to the Washington County Courthouse on Friday of this week in advance of the murder trial of Kevin Monahan. They are the potential jurors who’ll listen to testimony in the driveway shooting trial.
Monahan is accused of shooting and killing Kaylin Gillis who was a passenger in an SUV that mistakenly turned up his driveway in Hebron.
The group of 500 is believed to be a record number of prospective jurors for a trial in Washington County.
The case has attracted news coverage from across the nation because of the unique set of circumstances – a young woman shot and killed while innocently riding in a car.
The potential jurors will fill out questionnaires on Friday and jury selection will begin Monday morning.
NewsChannel 13 is planning in-depth team coverage of the trial, both on-air and online.
