Rensselaer County issues warning about people posing as employee
Rensselaer County is warning the public after an incident in which a person falsely claimed to be a county employee to gain entrance to a residence.
The county received a report from a woman in Sand Lake who said that a woman wearing an orange vest knocked on her door and stated she was a county employee and needed to inspect her roof.
The home owner refused to let the person in and contacted law enforcement.
County Executive Seve McLaughlin and Sheriff Kyle Bourgault reminded the public that employees on official business will always carry identification and usually travel in a vehicle marked with the county logo.
The homeowner refused and contacted law enforcement.
