Robert Fisher, charged with obstructing justice as police investigated the death of a 3-year-old Rensselaer girl on July 7, will now be charged with her murder, according the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s office.
Fisher, 33, tried to get into the home at 1552 Broadway, where the toddler was found unresponsive, Rensselaer Police Detective Sergeant Michael Deso previously told NewsChannel 13.
“We told him he’s not allowed in the residence until the investigation is complete. He tried to force his way into the residence, and then he was told he was under arrest and then resisted arrest,” he said.
Fisher will also be charged with rape. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, August 2 in Rensselaer County Court.
The District Attorney’s office said no other information will be available until after Fisher is arraigned.
