Report: Most employees of closed Washington County prison took other jobs within corrections system
DOCCS says most Great Meadow employees transferred within the DOCCS.
Most of the employees of the now-closed Great Meadow Correctional Facility have taken other positions within the prison system.
A new report from the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision found that 49 corrections officers and civilian staff resigned and six retired. A total of 297 took voluntary reassignments and another 250 were transferred as part of what the state calls “reduction in force” placements.
NewsChannel 13 reached out to find what prisons the Great Meadow employees transferred to, but a DOCCS spokesman said we would have to file a Freedom of Information Law request for that information.
