A brief scare caused a lockdown at all Granville schools on Friday morning.

Police got a report about a person carrying a rifle in the village.

School buildings first went into lockout, where no one can enter or leave. That was upgraded to a lockdown, where everyone stays in their classrooms.

Police found the person with a pellet gun. They were looking for squirrels, according to police.

The person was never on school grounds, according to the district. The lockdown was lifted.
