Rotterdam man allegedly threatened people with gun inside home
Police on Sunday arrested a Rotterdam man for allegedly threatening people inside a home with a gun.
The Rotterdam Police Department responded to a residence on Poutre Avenue at about 6:50 p.m. for a report of a man, later identified as 47-year-old Travis G. Forbes, making threats. When patrol officers arrived, they were able to confirm there were multiple people in the residence. Police requested backup from the Schenectady Police Department and Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office.
All the occupants of the residence other than the suspect were able to vacate the house and confirmed to police on scene that the man was still inside the home, according to a news release.
Police made contact with Forbes, and he eventually surrendered and was arrested. Officers found the handgun.
Forbes was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a weapon and misdemeanors of menacing, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest.
He was sent to Schenectady County Jail to await arraignment.
