Samantha Humphrey’s father grateful for arrest in daughter’s 2022 death

The father of Samantha Humphrey is speaking out, one day after Samantha's ex-boyfriend was charged in her 2022 death.

The father of Samantha Humphrey is speaking out, one day after Samantha’s ex-boyfriend was charged in her 2022 death.

It was a cold day in February 2023, when a fisherman spotted Samantha’s lifeless body floating the Mohawk River beneath an old railroad bridge. After searching for three months and investigating for another two years, Schenectady County District Attorney Robert Carney laid out in detail what he believes happened to Samantha on that fateful night.

“They argued with each other, the argument turned physical, and he caused her death by strangulation and asphyxiation,” Carney said on Wednesday.

After the indictment and arrest Wednesday of Samantha’s on-again off again boyfriend, Samantha’s family indicated in a written statement they were appreciative and relieved.

Jeff Humphrey told NewsChannel 13’s Dan Levy on Thursday that the reason he doesn’t have anything new to add to his written statement from Wednesday is because he feels Carney said everything he believes to be true about what happened. He told NewsChannel 13 Carney was comprehensive and appropriate.

Learn about how Humphrey said he felt watching the news conference, and one emotion that he says will never go away by watching the video of Dan Levys story.
