Saratoga County DA: Gag order over officer-involved shooting could be adjusted

Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen said Tuesday she won’t not lift the gag order, in case of last month’s shootout in downtown Saratoga Springs. The request came from the Saratoga Springs City Council.

However, Heggen said she is open to modifying it.

Heggen says she’s concerned about the unliteral, speculative, and inaccurate statements of both the mayor and public safety commissioner of Saratoga Springs, in the aftermath of the shooting in the early morning hours of November 20.

Heggen says their actions have not only impaired the joint criminal investigation, and prosecution but may have also exposed the city to civil liability.
