Saratoga County man accused of trying to rob Stewart’s in Schenectady
The Schenectady Police Department arrested Scott A. Vanbergen, 39, of Saratoga County, in connection with an attempted robbery at a Stewart’s Shop on Friday.
Police responded to the Stewart’s at 1010 McClellan St. for a report of a panic alarm. When officers arrived, they learned that Vanbergen attempted to take the cash register, said Schenectady Police.
Vanbergen left in the vehicle and crashed into a vacant house on Summit Avenue, according to police. Officers and the Schenectady County Task Force arrested him a short time later.
Schenectady Police learned that the vehicle was matched with several other incidents on Friday morning.
