Saratoga Springs finance commissioner to announce state Senate candidacy
Saratoga Springs Finance Commissioner Minita Sanghvi will announce her candidacy for the New York State Senate seat in the 44th District on Monday.
The 44th Senate District covers all of Saratoga County and parts of Schenectady County.
Sanghvi became the first person of color and first openly gay member of the Saratoga Springs City Council when she was elected in 2021. She’s also an author and a professor at Skidmore College.
Sanghvi sent NewsChannel 13 a statement saying:
“Her campaign promises to focus on infrastructure and economic growth by fostering an environment of entrepreneurship and innovation in District 44.”
Republican Jim Tedisco, a longtime state lawmaker, was re-elected to the seat in 2022. He sent a statement saying, “I look forward to this year’s election and continuing to serve as senator for the 44th Senate District and standing up each day and fighting for the people.”
