Schenectady gears up for annual holiday parade

A day after Halloween, leaders in Schenectady announced their plans for this year’s holiday parade.

This is the parade’s 54th year. It will be Nov. 18 in the city’s downtown.

The theme is “New York State of Mind.”

Grand marshals are the 109th Airlift Wing, with veterans just behind them. Parade organizers are looking for local veterans to join the parade.

“To be part of the grand marshal part of this parade, we can’t say how great we feel that honor is and very happy to participate, so thank you very much,” said Col. Christian Sander, Wing Commander with the 109th Airlift Wing.

All veterans are welcome to be part of the parade. They can walk, or ride a CDTA trolley.
