New weapon detection systems are being implemented at Schenectady High School.

As NewsChannel 13 has reported, the district sent a letter out to families last month saying these new safety measures were on the way.

School leaders unveiled the new technology to the public in October 2024.

Training is being provided to the staff this week, the district said.

The system will be operational Monday with what the district is calling a “soft implementation” period to let students and staff adjust to the new process.

The full implementation will start next Wednesday.
