Man accused of threatening Albany bar crowd with gun

A Schenectady man has been indicted for allegedly threatening patrons with a gun inside an Albany bar. Hector Gomez, 41, was arraigned in Albany County Court on Thursday on a six-count indictment. The incident happened on Feb. 8 inside Washington Tavern. Gomez is accused of pulling out a loaded 9mm handgun and pointing it at several patrons, according to the Albany County District Attorney's Office.

Hector Gomez, 41, was arraigned in Albany County Court on Thursday on a six-count indictment.

Gomez is accused of pulling out a loaded 9mm handgun at Washington Tavern on Feb. 8, and pointing it at several patrons, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

Gomez allegedly put the gun at the head of a woman and made threatening comments while blocking the entrance. He then left the building and fired two shots before leaving the area, according to prosecutors.

Gomez turned himself in to police on Feb. 17.

He was charged with kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, burglary, criminal trespassing, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.

Gomez was released on $100,000 bail and ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device. He also must submit weekly drug and alcohol tests.

He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
