Suspect in Albany’s first homicide of year pleads not guilty

The Schenectady man charged in Albany's first homicide appeared in court Monday, and his girlfriend is now facing charges in the case. Leonardo Guzman, 34, pleaded not guilty in Albany County Court to charges of second-degree and criminal possession of a weapon.

The Schenectady man charged in Albany’s first homicide appeared in court Monday, and his girlfriend is now facing charges in the case.

Leonardo Guzman, 34, pleaded not guilty in Albany County Court to charges of second-degree and criminal possession of a weapon.

Guzman is accused of shooting and killing 30-year-old Dewitt Miller. Police said it happened Jan. 30 just after 5:30 p.m. at 396 Central Ave.

Guzman’s girlfriend, 42-year-old Talesha Wynn, has been charged with hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence as part of the case. She was arraigned last Thursday.

If convicted, Guzman faces 25 years to life in state prison.
