Schenectady man sentenced in 2020 death of foster child

A man convicted in the 2020 death of his foster child was sentenced Tuesday morning in Schenectady County Court. Dequan Greene received 25 years to life in prison.

He previously pleaded not guilty back to the brutal beating of a 4-year-old in his care and hurting the boy’s 5-year-old brother.

A 911 call stated that a 4-year-old boy named Charlie was in respiratory distress.

Paramedics tried to revive him, but couldn’t. Charlie was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators say he died from injury to his liver and intestines caused by blunt force trauma.
