Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy is officially running for a fourth term. McCarthy kicked off his campaign at an event Tuesday morning.
McCarthy first stepped into the role in April 2011 as acting mayor.
He was elected to a full four-year term as mayor in November 2011 and was re-elected in 2015.
His challenger in the June primary is Schenectady City Council President Marion Porterfield.
The winner will face-off against Schenectady County Republican Committee Chair Matt Nelligan.
