Schenectady parolee arrested in assault of woman in Albany

Albany Police have made an arrest in the case of a woman who was assaulted shortly after getting off a CDTA bus. John W. Walker, 42, of Schenectady, is accused of following a woman after they both had gotten off the bus at around 7:20 p.m. Monday in the area of Central Avenue and Quail Street.

John W. Walker, 42, of Schenectady, is accused of following a woman after they both had gotten off the bus at around 7:20 p.m. Monday in the area of Central Avenue and Quail Street.

Walker then assaulted her in a rear yard on Washington Avenue near Quail Street, police said.

The woman has injuries to her face.

Walker, who police said is on parole, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and forcible touching.

He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and sent to Albany County Jail.
