Schenectady man pleads guilty in shooting outside Dunkin’

A Schenectady man is facing over a decade in prison after admitting to a shooting a man outside a Dunkin’ Donuts last year.

Christopher A. Brown, 48, pleaded guilty in Schenectady County Court on Monday to criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the shooting, which happened just before 10 p.m. on April 25, 2023.

The victim was shot in the hip area, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

The fight stemmed from a dispute over money that was paid to the victim for repairs to a car of Brown’s friend. The repairs were not completed.

Police obtained surveillance footage from the parking lot at 1200 State St. They also were able to track Brown’s Chevy Tahoe from the scene to a residence in Schenectady.

The victim identified Brown as the suspect.

Brown faces 10 ½ years in prison and 5 years of post-release supervision when sentenced on Nov. 18.
