Thursday marked 13 days since Samantha Humphrey, 14, went missing.
Police and fire department boats launched from Mohawk Valley Marine on Thursday. Those river patrols scoured the murky water again from the Schenectady Stockade down to Lock 7 in Niskayuna. Nothing has turned up yet.
Meanwhile, on the Schenectady side of the river, several state police and park police vehicles gathered Thursday afternoon to launch drones into the sky near Rivers Casino. Those drone units left the area early Thursday evening.
How much longer these all out, all-day searches will continue remains unclear. NewsChannel 13 has been trying to get an answer to that question from Schenectady police, who are leading the ongoing investigation. The Schenectady County district attorney is involved in the investigation.
Humphrey was last seen or heard from Nov. 25, when she got into an altercation with an ex-boyfriend at Riverside Park.
Police have the jacket Samantha was wearing the night she disappeared. Sources say they also have her cell phone.
Now what everyone would like to see is a resolution to the mystery.
Samantha’s mom, Jaclyn Humphrey, started a GoFundMe on Dec. 1 to raise money to hire a private investigator and attorney to help police search for her daughter. The Daily Gazette is reporting that Samantha’s grandparents are opposing that fundraising effort.
According to the paper, her grandparents say they support the efforts of the Schenectady Police Department and the additional agencies that continue to search for their granddaughter.
