Schodack couple thanks community for support after devastating fire

A Schodack couple thanks the community for all the love and support, after they suffered a devastating fire. They lost their home and two beloved dogs.

A couple in Schodack is showing gratitude and thanks for all of the support they have received following a fire that happened at their home this past Tuesday.

The fire broke out around 9:30 a.m. at 2041 Brookview Road.

The couple’s two dogs died in the fire.

Claire and Scott Mancini, the couple whose home was heavily damaged by the fire, shared some words with us about how thankful they are for the support they have received:

“First and foremost, we want everyone to know how truly and deeply thankful we are for the love and support we have been shown. There are no words that can accurately convey our gratitude and appreciation to you all during this time. You hear about these things happening to other people but you never imagine it can happen to you. The loss of our home and possessions is one thing, it’s horrific to say the least. However, losing our dogs, our best friends, Piper and Roscoe, is truly sickening. Not only did close friends and family know them, the whole neighborhood and surrounding area knew them as they would frequently break out of the yard and go off on adventures. Roscoe loved running around the yard, getting biscuits from neighbors and most importantly doing the morning chores in the horse barn. Piper loved running and galavanting through the woods (without permission) but she also loved a good snack and snuggling on the couch. She and Emmet bonded from the moment we brought him home from the hospital. The unconditional love she showed him is cemented in our sweet boy. They will live on in him as they are the foundation of his love of dogs which he will build upon for the rest of his life. We are truly at a loss without them and they will be furrever missed. We have been asked a lot if we have thoughts and plans for the property and at this point we don’t have any definitive answers. We have spent the last 10 years making that house our home and building our little farm. We would love to continue working towards our goals with the property. We would also love to do something in honor of Piper and Roscoe that would give back to the community that has so generously given to us. We know this will be a long journey and times will get difficult but we have a tremendous amount of support that will hold us up until we can stand on our own again.”

Claire is a special education teacher at Columbia High School and coaches girls soccer.

Scott works at Healthy Pet Center, does contracting work, and is an all-around animal lover.

The Mancinis bought their house and built a working farm on their property. They sell vegetables on their very own farm stand.

Their farm is known for wonderful eggs and vegetables.

They even got married on their farm.

A GoFundMe has been started to help the family rebuild. Here is the link: Schodack fire GoFundMe
