Federal grants to benefit local fire departments are in jeopardy, Sen. Chuck Schumer said.
Schumer was at the Glens Falls Fire Department Tuesday to announce his plans to save the Assistance to
Firefighters Grant Program and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Program.
Those programs have provided nearly $1 million to Warren and Washington County fire departments in just the past three years, said Schumer.
He is rallying support to pass the Fire Grants and Safety Act in the Senate by the end of this month to save these programs.
