Second person arrested in fatal Albany shooting in June

A second person has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Albany. Daquan Arrington, 24, allegedly caused the death of Javon Ward back on June 5 around 1:45 a.m. in the area of Second and Quail streets. Paul Smith also has been arrested in Ward's killing. An unsealed indictment brought new charges against him in connection with the June 3 incident. He allegedly possessed an illegal firearm.

A second person has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Albany.

Daquan Arrington, 24, allegedly caused the death of Javon Ward back on June 5 around 1:45 a.m. in the area of Second and Quail streets. Ward was shot in the back and was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center.

A 46-year-old woman was hit in the leg and a 13-year-old boy was grazed in the arm.

Arrington was charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and two counts of reckless endangerment. He is also facing two counts of criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly having an illegal firearm.

Arrington is also accused of trying to kill someone on June 3.

Arrington was arraigned in Albany County Court. He pleaded not guilty and was sent to Albany County Jail.

Paul Smith, 22, also has been arrested in Ward’s killing. An unsealed indictment brought new charges against him in connection with the June 3 incident. He allegedly possessed an illegal firearm.

He was arraigned and sent to Albany County Jail.
