Sentencing delayed for convicted killer of Watervliet man

Sentencing for a man convicted in Albany's first homicide of 2023 has been delayed. A jury found Kerdel Young, 39, guilty of second-degree murder in the February 2023 death of Anthony Dias, 39, of Watervliet. Young shot Dias multiple times in the afternoon in the Pine Hills neighborhood.

A jury found Kerdel Young, 39, guilty of second-degree murder in the February 2023 death of Anthony Dias, 39, of Watervliet.

Young shot Dias multiple times in the afternoon in the Pine Hills neighborhood. The shooting stemmed from an argument between the two men.

The sentencing has now been set for Aug. 8 at 9:30 a.m.

Young faces 25 years to life in prison.
