Man accused of attacking correction officer at Montgomery County Jail.

An Amsterdam man is accused of assaulting a correction officer while in Montgomery County Jail.

Matthew Kleabonas, 64, allegedly punched the officer and hit them with a chair while inside of a housing unit on Tuesday, March 4, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.

The officer was injured, but police said is doing well and expected to return to normal duty.

Kleabonas, 64, was charged with second-degree assault, menacing and obstructing governmental administration. He was arraigned in Glen Town Court and sent back to Montgomery County Jail pending a future court appearance.
