Shocking video shows tense moments after deadly Schenectady stabbing
Video of moments after the attack Friday night shows a man on the ground on Lincoln Avenue in Schenectady. Police order him to crawl towards them. A crowd of police officers is nearby, guns drawn.
They also rush to the victim. Amanda Jaikaran, 38, had been stabbed many times and died.
A makeshift memorial now sits at the site of the attack on Lincoln Avenue.
A relative says Amanda left behind three children. The youngest child is just three years old.
“She became a single mom again and she was working two different jobs, she was working at a nursing home and she had a side job which is cleaning people’s houses and bathrooms and Airbnbs just to make sure all three of her kids are always taken care of,” said the family member.
Rance White, 52, of Schenectady, is charged with murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
Amanda’s family says the two used to have a relationship.
Her family would like her to be remembered as a strong woman, caring, and generous.
“Just remember her as someone that could always have been there for anybody. She is one of the most loving person, most forgiving person you will ever meet. ever meet in this world.”
