Six hospitalized after rush-hour Colonie crash
Three cars and a garbage truck collided on Wolf Road in Colonie Wednesday morning.
It happened around 8:30 a.m. near Marcus Boulevard.
One driver suffered a medical emergency and went through a red light, investigators said. He struck one car and then continued north and struck a second car, which in turn hit a garbage truck that was turning into the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel from Wolf Road. That car became wedged under the truck.
Five people were taken to the hospital due to the crash. They are expected to be OK. The driver who suffered the medical emergency was also hospitalized.
Environmental experts were called in over concerns of gasoline leaking into a nearby storm sewer.
The road was shut down for a time but has since reopened. Power was also knocked out in the area.
Anyone who saw the crash is asked to call Colonie Police at 518-782-2620.
