FIRST ON 13: Police: Human remains don’t belong to Jaliek Rainwalker
The human remains found in Troy on Sunday are not those of Jaliek Rainwalker, police have confirmed.
A skull and bones were found by a person out for a walk in Burden Pond Preserve, which is around Mill Street and Campbell Avenue.
There was much speculation that the remains could have been those of Jaliek, the 12-year-old Greenwich boy who went missing in 2007. The site was very close to an area that was searched for him in 2022.
NewsChannel 13’s Mark Mulholland was first to report that a doctor has ruled out Rainwalker.
Troy Police sent a news release confirming that a dental comparison was conducted on Wednesday and concluded that they are not Jaliek Rainwalker’s remains. They have informed Jaliek’s family.
Further analysis of the remains is set to occur next week. Police said they hope to have more information at that time about the potential gender, age and/or identity of the remains.
