A Berkshire County man has been found guilty of causing a crash that killed a motorcycle rider, but was found not guilty of drunken driving.
Kristopher Laine, 43, was guilty of motor vehicle homicide, meaning his license will be suspended for the next 15 years, NewsChannel 13’s media partners at the Berkshire Eagle reported.
The crash happened on May 22, 2019 on Canaan Road in Sheffield. John Howard, 70, of Connecticut, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A conviction for drunken driving would have meant mandatory jail time. The judge can now decide whether to send Laine to jail for up to 2.5 years.
