State museum evacuated after threat

The New York State Museum was evacuated after receiving a threat on Saturday.

The New York State Museum was evacuated on Saturday after police received an email claiming that an explosive device was place at the Huxley Theater.

A local police agency received the email around 3:30 p.m. and contacted State Police.

Police established a safety perimeter around the building and searched the premises. No incendiary devices were found, they said.

The search was completed around 5 p.m. and the museum closed for the day as per its normal hours of operation.

The investigation is ongoing.
