State Police: Two arrested on variety of charges in Fonda following traffic stop

New York State Police say they arrested Alexander Rivera, 45, of Amsterdam and Amanda Giblin, 37, of Fonda on Friday following a traffic stop in the Village of Fonda.
Troopers say they stopped a vehicle around 4:04 a.m. on East Main Street in the village for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
Police say the driver, who was later identified as Rivera, provided false identifying information to Troopers. Rivera was later determined to have an active warrant out for his arrest.
They say investigation revealed felony narcotics among personal belongings of Giblin, the passenger.
Further search into the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and more than 70 grams of a substance that tested positive for cocaine, said State Police.
Both Rivera and Giblin were arrested and taken to State Police Fonda for processing.
Rivera was charged with the following:
- Second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia
- Two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- False personation
- Multiple vehicle and traffic law violations
Giblin was charged with fifth and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
They were arraigned at Mohawk Town Court.
State Police say Rivera was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail, and Giblin was released on her own recognizance.
