Stefanik says she will be a team player

Stefanik says she will be a team player as she will remain in Congress.

U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik is speaking out after she is no longer going to be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Stefanik will continue to represent New York’s 21st Congressional District after President Donald Trump announced he was withdrawing her name over concerns about protecting the Republicans’ razor-thin majority in the House of Representatives.

The North Country representative had expected to be confirmed next week.

Speaking on “Hannity” Thursday night for the first time after the news broke, Stefanik said she will continue to stand by President Trump.

“I have been proud to be a team player. The president knows that. He and I had multiple conversations today. And we are committed to delivering results on behalf of the American people,” she said.

Blake Gendebien, the Democratic candidate who was running to succeed her, said he plans to stay in the race.
