ALBANY – The killer is still on the loose in a Sunday evening homicide in Albany.
It happened at Central Avenue near Robin Street, two days after another homicide in the city.
To underscore the point that this is a nationwide problem, nearly 50,000 Americans were killed by gun violence.
When it happens close to home, people tend to notice. They become frightened and frustrated.
The latest Albany homicide victim – the 13th of the year – was gunned down around 7:30 Sunday night on Central Avenue near Robin Street. He died at the scene. Police announced an arrest in the case on Monday evening.
Police Chief Eric Hawkins says the Central Avenue murder was not a random act. He also says the killing on Hamilton Street last Friday night was also not random. William Sanders, 18, was killed at that crime scene.
Roughly 90-minutes after police arrived on scene, a tactical team entered with a search warrant, and say they found 20-year old Brian Moses hiding in the basement.
They say they also found a loaded 9mm handgun.
Moses is charged with murder.
Both murder investigations continue.
