Stillwater mom dies after watching son win Kelly’s Angels Mother-Lovin’ 5K
The Stillwater mother battling cancer – who watched her 15-year-old son win the Kelly’s Angels Mother-Lovin’ 5K on Sunday – has died.
Diane Zazzaro was 51 years old.
Zazzaro’s son, Anthony, was the top finisher out of nearly 1,200 participants in the Mother’s Day race at the Saratoga Spa State Park.
Anthony said he was running for his mom, who had end-stage colon cancer.
Even though his mom was really sick, she was adamant about going to the run, as Kelly’s Angels had previously helped her family.
Surrounded by dozens of friends and family, she beamed with pride as her son was given the medal as the overall winner.
Zazzaro leaves behind a husband and three kids – including Anthony.
