Storm causes damage across Capital Region

Glens Falls has declared a state of emergency as crews work to clean up damage from what the city was 85 mph winds that blew through.

The following roads are temporarily closed because of downed power lines, flooding and downed trees:

  • McDonald at Warren
  • Mauro at Jackson
  • Hartford
  • Sanford from Ridge to Windy Hill
  • Monument and Parker
  • Staple Street
  • Murray Street Hill
  • Ogden
  • Catherine
  • Lincoln
  • Charlotte / Grove
  • Lower Lawrence  between McDonald and Platt

The public is asked to avoid the area.

Storm damage has wreaked havoc across the Capital Region, knocking down trees and power.

NewsChannel 13’s Tessa Bentulan interviewed homeowners in Gloversville, where a tree came down on a house.

“I was sitting in the living room and a tree came down. It was like ‘Boom!.’ It sounded like a bomb going off,” said Barbara Nellis.

Neither Barbara nor her husband, Robert, were injured.

Robert said that another tree damaged a neighbor’s garage.
