Gusty winds knock out power to parts of Capital Region
Strong, gusty winds knocked down trees and caused power outages on Monday. Those outages included Indian Ladder Farms in Altamont and Siena College in Loudonville, along with thousands of other Capital Region homes and business.
In Troy, Spring Avenue between Walker and Linden Avenue was blocked off. A small landslide pushed the trees down.
Police were redirecting drivers.
Work crews from the Department of Transportation and National Grid could be seen clearing the area.
Crews were working on moving the poles from one side of the street to the other. The other side of the street is flatter and clear of trees, so crews won’t have to worry about trees falling on the wires causing outages.
The crews were planning to stay on the scene until everything is clear.
