Students to return to Pittsfield High Friday after two-day closure for boiler issue

Students will return to Pittsfield High School on Friday after a two-day break to get a new boiler up and running.

The school was forced to close because it lacked heat. The district is getting a new boiler installed and has a temporary one attached to the school. However, it needed to be inspected and that couldn’t happen until Thursday.

The district had hoped that the temperatures would stay mild, but that was not the case.

Superintendent Joseph Curtis said in a statement that he is advising students and staff to wear warm clothing as the new boiler comes online, and the building continues to warm up overnight.

School officials thanked the Pittsfield Building Maintenance Department for its work to get the boiler up and running.

Parents are advised to check district social media in the morning to confirm that everything this still on track to return to school.
